Imam Hussain Tribute
Millions commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a.s), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.
Pilgrims from across the world come to honour Imam Hussein's principles of justice, sacrifice, and resistance against oppression.
They gather at the shrine of Imam Ali (a.s) in Najaf and walk 80km south to the holy city of Karbala where Imam Hussein's shrine is located.
The long pilgrimage is spiritually uplifting, participants spend 3 days of walking whilst reciting prayers, lamentations, and supplications. The atmosphere is one of deep reverence, grief, and spiritual reflection.
