Ramadan Fund

Ramadan is a holy month in Islam during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. Iftar is the meal eaten after sunset, during the 30 days of Ramadan. Al-Asr opens its doors to community members and guests and offers a daily Ramadan iftar meal throughout the month.

Families, friends, and communities come together to break their fasts and share meals in the Al-Asr Centre fostering the spirit of togetherness social cohesion and creates a sense of belonging. Feeding people during Ramadan transcends cultural and religious boundaries, bringing people from different backgrounds together to serve a common purpose.

“Each day during the holy month of Ramadan a short sermon is given, and congregational evening prayers take place then a feast commences.”

Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, increased devotion, solidarity, and heightened acts of worship. Our centre promotes social cohesion throughout the year but particularly in the month of Ramadan.

Reap the spiritual rewards, break bread with us this Ramadan our doors are open to all. Al-Asr places great emphasis on charity and generosity, especially during Ramadan. Muslims believe that giving to those in need during this blessed month carries immense spiritual rewards. It is seen as a means of purifying one’s wealth, seeking forgiveness, and attaining closeness to Allah. The act of feeding others is considered a form of worship and a way to earn blessings.

Al-Asr does its best to help contribute a small amount towards alleviating hunger and poverty around the World. Many people face food insecurity and poverty globally, which is exacerbated during Ramadan. By raising money and feeding people, particularly those who are marginalized, impoverished, or displaced, we address immediate hunger needs and provide relief to vulnerable individuals and communities.

Al-Asr Woking has contributed through its charity and spread joy & kindness by providing tens of thousands of meals to people over the last few years during the month of Ramadan.

Our food initiative has provided meals to individuals and families in Pakistan who may otherwise go without uplifting their spirits and giving them hope. Al-Asr aims to restore the dignity of those who are less fortunate by giving in a discreet manner to those most in need of assistance.
