
Ladies Activities
Al-Asr has several key activities for women within the centre and outside the centre mosques. Balancing modern western cultural norms within Islamic principles is paramount to all ladies’ activities and community preferences.
The Women’s Study Circles also known as a Halaqa is a new initiative being launched in September 2023. The informal gatherings aim to engage ladies’ discussions in Islamic history, philosophy, jurisprudence, spirituality, personal development recitation of the Quran, understanding of the of the Quran, teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (a.s) and lengthy productive debates.

Al-Asr ladies family guidance and welfare initiative is being launched in September 2023. It aims to support and council Women providing through support group sessions, and mentoring programs. These initiatives address various personal and social issues faced by women, offering guidance and a safe space for discussion.
Al-Asr will be offering workshops and skills Development sessions specifically tailored to help empower woman within the community. Practical steps on parenting, marriage, personal finance, self-defense, health and wellness, and career development will be given during the work shop sessions.
Al-Asr ladies are actively engaged in community service and volunteering not just within the centre but within the wider Woking community.
Al-Asr ladies wish to launch food drive initiatives, charity campaigns, blood donation camps, interfaith events, and other outreach programs aimed at benefiting the broader community.
The ladies of the community also actively arrange social events and celebrations including educational seminars, cultural performances, and social networking oppurutnities. The ladies group also look to increase activities for children during holiday seasons. These events may include Eid gatherings, iftar parties during Ramadan,
It’s important to note that the extent of women’s involvement in mosque activities can vary. Some mosques may have designated women’s prayer spaces and dedicated female-led programs, while others may have more limited resources. Nonetheless, the objective is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where women can actively participate in educational, spiritual, and community-oriented activities within the guidelines of Islamic teachings.
Al-Asr ladies offer so much to our community and foster a strong sense of sisterhood and spiritual growth which transcends to children and families. They are pivotal to the development and growth of our community.
The ladies of Al-Asr are great at supporting each other but what can you do to support them? Please consider donating generously to the ladies so they may continue to be empowered and grow, and help our youth develop. Give them the funds required so they can continue their great work and effort within the Al-Asr centre and the Woking community at large.
